The sound is inspired by Echo & The Bunnymen. The lyrics feel like devotion strapped to a compass during the end of the world. The imagery in the lyrics feel apocalyptically huge but emotionally the song feels intimate - a product of the surrealism and adynata. The universe keeps threatening collapse, and the response is never panic. It’s pursuit.

Chapalu releases cinematic single that explores love as an anchor in the midst of a world surrounded by chaos
Before the listener can have any concrete hint of what to expect in terms of textures and atmospheres, the song puts him in contact with the sound of the guitar's distortion, gradually increasing its presence as if to indicate the use of the fade in effect. From then on, the melodic and high-pitched touch becomes evident, but as soon as it reaches a kind of apex, it ceases and leaves the viewer in contact with an environment that suggests new sensory emotions.
In this new scenario, a voice with a feminine appearance due to its velvet and its slightly high base begins to fill the lyrical scope. In the meantime, especially with regard to the sensorial field, the composition ends up enjoying a freshness of aerial nuances that imbue the listener with irresistible numbing incinunations. With this in mind, delicacy becomes something inherent to the entire context of the work.
Still, there is another detail to be taken into account. In the melodic base, the listener walks alongside a synthetic and curiously shaky-looking sonority that suggests a slightly crunchy surface. The brainchild of songwriter Catherine Thomas, Chapalu is a genre-hopping solo project sauntering across pop, alternative rock, trip-hop, jazz, soft rock, Britpop, and, in her words (or at least on her website), “basically anything other than EDM, rap or country music that references pick-up trucks or religion.” Originally from Wales, Thomas found a passion for music as a child, learning classical piano, the cello, the double bass, and guitar, and has performed with orchestras – all the time burning that flame for music deep in her soul.
