PROUD OF ME

I’m travelling home
Across the sea
And travel in time
Where life was at ease
We’d hide in the dunes
We’d run to the shore
We’d race the white horses
We were secure

You left me the whole world
And said no goodbyes

Oh how the roots got tangled
On our family tree
I’ve changed
And I wonder
Would you be
Proud of me?

We’d tease and we’d joke
Laugh to the skies
The warm sand our pillows
Gulls soaring by
Childish discussions
I barely talked with you
Growing old should take longer
Should have grown up with you

You left me the whole world
And said no goodbyes

Oh how the roots got tangled
On our family tree
I’ve changed
And I wonder
Would you be
Proud of me?

It’s how life goes
I know that now
Be proud of me?
